Other nzbef administered awards

Along with the NZ Business Excellence National Awards, the Foundation also administers the following two awards -

The NZ Health Innovation Awards
The NZ Health Innovation Awards initiated in 2003, are a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and the Accident Compensation Corporation and are administered by the NZ Business Excellence Foundation utilising a 4-stage process similar to that of the NZ Business Excellence Awards.

The Award processes and templates were developed by the NZ Business Excellence Foundation in consultation with the MOH and ACC.  Although very similar to the NZ Business Excellence Awards, the Health Innovation Awards utilise an Expression of Interest stage as a preliminary evaluation step and finalists are selected after the expressions of interest are run through a weighted selection matrix that aligns with the key requirements of the awards criteria.

Applicants for an award are subjected to a rigorous evaluation process.  Each applicant submits a written application document which responds to, and details how they have implemented, the innovation that they are entering.  A team of evaluators from the health sector and trained by the Foundation individually and collectively evaluate the submission, including visiting the sites of the applicant to verify the application.  Finally, a panel of judges reviews the evaluation and decides the winners of the various award categories.

In the Health Innovation Awards, the applicants compete against each other, within the award categories.  Award applicants also receive a comprehensive feedback report detailing areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.

The Excellence in Business Support Awards were initiated in 2005 in conjunction with Small Business sector specialist Sarah Trotman and uses processes and templates developed by the Foundation.  These awards also utilise a weighted selection matrix followed by an individual evaluation, a site visit and judging.  Award applicants have the option of receiving a feedback report detailing areas of strengths and opportunities for improvement.
